Course Description
This Accessibility Consultant Micro-credential is four module, self-paced online training pathway to make accessibility and inclusion a reality for people of any ability. Learners will get training on how to become Accessibility Consultants as a career or within their organization. Taking this accessibility and inclusion training at Brock, learners will cover five areas of accessibility standards through lenses of Customer Service, Communication, Employment, and Design for Public and Digital Spaces. Learners will cover these through four self-paced modules.Learner Outcomes
Comprehensive knowledge of AODA standards (with knowledge transfer to regional accessibility policies)
Skills to identify compliance with accessibility standards.
Accessibility design and inclusive practices for physical spaces
Accessibility and inclusion for digital spaces and communication
Professional implementation of AODA (or locally mandated) standards for workplace settings
Competence in comprehensive accessibility and inclusion analyses of a variety of physical, relational, and virtual spaces and contexts
Competence in facilitating compliance planning and change management.
Completed professional portfolio of accessibility and inclusion strategies, skills, and tools.
Practical experiences in various contexts.
Increased comfort and confidence interacting with organizational professionals at all levels of decision making.
Workshop and presentation skills
Depth engagement with historical, social, cultural, and political issues as they relate to disability rights, disability legislation, disability experiences, and disability communities.
