Programming Description

Join this unique workshop with author of “Becoming Kin”, by Patty Krawec where Patty will personally facilitate the learning journey that is so eloquently described in her book.

This one-of-a-kind opportunity to connect with the author, participate in learning circles and “unforget our history.”  This 2-day immersive workshop is organized into four modules for learners to journey to a place that supports a way forward that honours people, the land, and all of creation.

During the 2 days, this will be a chance for us to retrace history, pick up what was lost along the way: the chance to honour rather than violate treaties, see the land as a relative not a resource, and to unravel the histories taught throughout colonialism.

Lead by the author, attendees will see settler colonialism through the eyes of an Indigenous writer. “Settler colonialism tried to force us into one particular way of living, but thinking through what it means to be kin can help us imagine a different future.”

This session will include food and refreshments throughout the two days and has an optional day of local Indigenous sites and land visits
