Programming Description

This course focuses on teaching strategies for Junior-level subjects (Grade 4-6), emphasizing child development, learning styles, multiple intelligences, inquiry-based learning, equity, special education, and curriculum documents. Participants will gain a deep understanding of Junior Learners and explore current pedagogy, legislation, policy, and the evolving roles of teachers and students. The course integrates digital tools and technology skills to engage students, enhance professional practice, and improve learning outcomes.

Learner Outcomes

Make connections between 21st-century teaching and learning skills, adapting to changes in education.*Customize and personalize learning activities, especially inquiry-based, for both themselves and students.*Demonstrate fluency in technology systems, applying subject knowledge to new technologies and situations.*Apply the Standards of Practice and Ethical Standards for the Teaching Profession in curriculum planning and design.*Understand and implement Ministry of Education curriculum expectations and policies for Junior Division students, including designing, implementing, and assessing programs.*Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/guardians, and the community to enhance student learning and well-being.
