Programming Description

Using an integrated approach to curriculum, this course will enable teachers to receive additional qualifications for the intermediate division in math. Topics such as curriculum planning, teaching strategies and assessment of learning experiences for the intermediate division will be included in this course.

Learner Outcomes

Understand how The Ethical Standards for the Teaching Profession and The Standards of Practice for the Teaching Profession inform daily practices, ensuring ethical and professional conduct as an Ontario educator.*Analyze issues and challenges related to teaching mathematics to adolescent students, incorporating Ministry of Education curriculum and policy documents.*Develop effective assessment strategies that support instructional decision-making and student success in a mathematics program.*Implement a variety of instructional practices aligned with equity, inclusion, and culturally relevant pedagogy to enhance student learning in mathematics.*Create a learning environment that fosters holistic development and addresses diverse needs, while responsibly addressing legal responsibilities and issues related to adolescents.

Prerequisites

1. OCT MEMBERSHIP confirming you are an OCT member with an undergraduate degree./ 2. UNDERGRADUATE/GRADUATE UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPT(S) / Your transcript(s) must show: The equivalent of 2.0 full undergraduate/graduate credits in math.
