Programming Description

This course is designed to prepare you to meet the needs of the intermediate learner in Health and Physical Education. You will explore and enhance professional practice, program planning and leadership within the Intermediate Division. You will extend professional knowledge, skills and pedagogies within H&PE and explore the theoretical foundations associated with supporting the adolescent learner.Health and Physical Education employs a critical, pedagogical lens to explore in a holistic and integrated manner theoretical foundations, learning theory, program planning, development and implementation, instructional design and practices, assessment and evaluation, the learning environment, research and ethical considerations related to teaching and learning across the divisions. Through these explorations, you will strengthen professional efficacy by gaining in-depth knowledge, refining professional judgment and generating new knowledge for practice.

Learner Outcomes

Incorporate professional knowledge to create engaging programs.* Explore pedagogical processes, assessments, and evaluation practices that connect curriculum to learner interests, strengths, inquiries, needs, and well-being.* Apply Ontario curriculum, resources, and government policies, frameworks, and strategies to design Intermediate Physical Health and Phys Ed courses.* Explore the integration of culturally inclusive pedagogies in program design, planning, and development.

Prerequisites

1. OCT MEMBERSHIP confirming you are an OCT member with an undergraduate degree./ 2. UNDERGRADUATE/GRADUATE UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPT(S) / Your transcript(s) must show: The equivalent of 2.0 full undergraduate/graduate courses in Kinesiology or experience playing/coaching high level sports is accepted in lieu of Undergraduate credits.
